About the Festival

Brittany (Britt/Bee) Dahl – Creator / Founder of PleasureHunt Festival
When I began my training as a somatic sex educator, I knew I wanted to work with larger groups. There are so many tools, practices, and ways of relating that, when experienced in community, can ripple out into people’s lives in meaningful and lasting ways. While one-on-one work is powerful, I felt a strong pull toward creating spaces where people could learn together, witness one another, and bring those experiences back into their relationships, their bodies, and their everyday lives.
I had already been involved in organizing festivals for about ten years, so the foundation was there. As I moved through my training and began thinking about my final project for Core Course 5, something clicked. Instead of waiting, I decided to start building it. In 2024, I took the brave step of saying yes to bringing PleasureHunt Festival to life. I reached out to people in my community, and a small group gathered around the vision. People who believed in what I was trying to create and were willing to help bring it into form.
At the same time, I had been attending many “members only” spaces, large-scale play parties, and kink nights. Time after time, I would leave feeling overwhelmed, overstimulated, and completely disconnected from the experience. My body just couldn’t land safely in those environments. They often felt too dark, too loud, too intense, and too full of people.
And I kept thinking… if this is how it feels for me, what about folks who are just beginning to explore their bodies, their desires, and their pleasure? Or those who are simply curious?
These spaces can be incredibly challenging to enter, let alone relax into.
I realized what my own nervous system was craving was nature. Space. Fresh air. A sense of grounding. And I began to wonder what it would feel like to bring these worlds together. The education, the exploration, the conversations around sex, pleasure, embodiment, consent, and kink… but held in a natural, open environment where people could actually settle, soften, and feel.
At the time, I couldn’t find anything like that in or around Edmonton. So, as a community builder, I followed that thread. I saw an opening in what was being offered and chose to step into it.
Another important piece of this vision was creating a space for facilitators. There are so many people doing incredible work in the realms of sex, pleasure, embodiment, consent, and kink, yet so much of it remains hidden or pushed underground due to stigma. I wanted to create a space where these offerings could exist more openly. A place where practitioners could share their gifts, their tools, and their knowledge in a way that felt accessible, grounded, and human.
PleasureHunt Festival was born from that intersection. A desire for a different kind of space. One that honours the nervous system. One that invites curiosity instead of overwhelm. One that supports both individuals and those in relationship. One that brings this work out of the shadows and into connection with community, land, and lived experience.
At its core, PleasureHunt is about de-shaming. It’s about creating space for people to explore their relationship to pleasure, to their bodies, and to one another, without pressure or expectation. It’s about returning to ourselves, together.
